Corporate History

In 1960, American Standard Inc., recognized that partnerships with transportation companies were essential to maximize customer service while keeping distribution costs under control. To take full advantage of these benefits, a private fleet was established with the intent to fully integrate the inbound movement of raw materials and the outbound movement of finished goods with the manufacturing process.

The private fleet evolved into Amstan Trucking which was incorporated in 1974. As a for hire contract carrier regulated by the Interstate Commerce Commission, Amstan was able to offer its services to companies outside the American Standard family. This additional business, both complemented American Standard business by providing lane balance, and supplemented the internal business, which enabled Amstan to grow.

Our Business Growth

Amstan has continued to expand its services to its customers.  We now offer service between any points in North America via rail, road or air.  We offer truckload, less than truckload and intermodal service as well as contracting with carriers on the spot market to move those shipments that are larger than LTL but not quite a truckload.  We offer standard delivery as well as expedited delivery.  We have access to a variety of sizes of equipment to ensure you only pay for the space needed.  We can handle van, flatbed as well as refrigerated shipments.  And we can assist with international shipments. Our non-asset business model enables us to provide the best in logistics services without owning and maintaining fleets of trucks and transportation equipment. We concentrate on what we know best, transportation through technology.

We continue to expand and evolve as we meet the changing needs of our customers, particularly in the area of e-commerce. We are a professionally managed organization consisting of individuals with sound business and industry experience and education.
